Ethnographic Researcher and PhD Fellow, POEM H2020 - Children’s Interaction with Digital Media

Jan 2020 Feb 2020

I independently organised a research workshop in an East London school. Working with 11 pupils aged 13-14 I explored how they use digital media to create personal memories. Digital storytelling is a co-creative and participatory method that allows participants to engage in the research process.

Ethnographic Researcher and PhD Fellow, POEM H2020 - Digital Memory Practices of Young Adults

2020 - 2021

I conducted 12 months of digital ethnography with 17 participants to understand how they use their phones, computers and social media to create, collect and share their personal memory objects, like photos and videos. While highly dependent on social media platforms like Instagram, young participants were very critical of these spaces and the companies that own them. Many tried to find alternative ways to keep their memories safe for the future.
